FR.TOBIN BEREAVED

Parish Priest Fr. Martin Tobin has been bereaved by the sad death of his mother Maura (nee Mackey) of Seven Sisters, Johnstown. She passed away in the company of her family in the Padre Pio Nursing Home on Sunday after a prolonged illness. Her remains were removed to St. Kierans Church on Monday evening. Burial in the adjoining graveyard after Requiem Mass on Tuesday. She was predeceased by her husband William and her son Oliver and is survived by sons Eugene, Liam, Bertie, Frank, Fr. Martin and Robert, daughters in law, grandchildren, cousins relatives and friends.

QUEEN OF THE WELLIE. Eileen Brennan, Loon, representing Kavanaghs Pub was the outright winner of the Queen Final in Shortalls on Saturday and led the parade on New Years Day. Kavanaghs Pub regulars entered a float in Friday's Parade.

CLONEEN/RAILYARD JUVENILE COMMITTE held a well attended presentation night in Cloneen last Friday when Minor and Under 16 hurlers and Under 16 footballers received their county medals from Kilkenny goalkeeper P.J Ryan and Bord na nOg Chairman Joe Pyke.

PARKING AT MONEENROE – people are being asked NOT to park too close to the entrance to OLD SCHOOL CRESCENT as it is causing serious difficulty for residents to exit safely

CLOGH PARISH YOUTH GROUP  -The Programme for Students aged 13-16 years to develop ideas on what they want from their Parish and Mass  will continue tonight Wednesday November 25 in the Parish Centre from 7.15 – 8.30 pm.  Anyone interested in taking part can call or text Sarah at 086 1041406 or Lily at 087 4116313.

LOCAL TALENT - RTE Television recently spent a day in Clogh filming local singer / songwriter Oisín Kavanagh who is currently living in Switzerland and will be broadcast as part of the Nationwide Programme tonight Wednesday November 25 at 7pm on RTE 1 Television. Oisín  (website  www.oisin.ch ) hopes to give a concert in St. Patrick’s Church Clogh, in the New Year to help raise funds for its renovation

THANK YOU FROM ALAN KERINS AFRICAN PROJECTS -  “ To the people of Clogh Parish and all Colin’s friends, we greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness, sincerity, kindness and support of the Colin Phillips Zambia Challenge and as a result €8,306 has been raised.  Our latest project involves funding the building of a school for orphans and vulnerable children in Kaoma in Zambia .  On behalf of our friends in Africa to whom we dedicate all our work, Thank you most sincerely”.

The senior citizens group meets every Monday from 2 till 4 pm. Set dancing and Irish dancing continues in the centre and in Moneenroe Hall.

YOUTH CLUB : The parish youth club has resumed activities on Friday nights in Moneenroe Hall from 7.30 to 9 pm. The committee has issued a welcome to new members.

PARISH CENTRE – Anyone wishing to book facilities at the Parish Centre for the coming season please apply in writing, setting out hours and days required, to the Parish Office or call 056.4401942.

HANDBALL : The handball club celebrated another very successful year with a presentation night last Saturday The amazing list of club achievements is on the Handball page.
